Mission Statement

Gender Amplified is a non-profit organization that aims to celebrate women in music production, raise their visibility and develop a pipeline for girls and young women to get involved behind the scenes as music producers.

The movement also connects passion for music with technical skills that can be used in a wide range of scientific and arts based fields, areas in which women are traditionally underrepresented.

The mission of the Gender Amplified movement is to provide a platform for the promotion and advancement of women in music production and to identify and motivate the next generation of women music producers. By organizing public events that foster healthy dialogue about the role gender plays in the music making process, Gender Amplified endeavors to give voice to a subculture of women and gender non-binary people who are using music technology to create their own music and perpetuate their unique identities.

Our Music Production Camps

Ctrl Room Series is a production-intensive camp program designed to bring women and non-binary music producers, songwriters, and multi-hyphenate creatives together to create and collaborate in community.

Although I have been producing and engineering for many years, it has been few and far between that I get the chance to work with other female and non-binary music producers and engineers.

Gender Amplified started as a senior thesis project by our founder Ebonie Smith in 2007.
You can apply for Ctrl Room Series music production camp here! Our application is rolling, so you are always welcome to apply to be considered for our next camp. We’d love to get you involved!
Welcome to this wonderful world of sound making! We’re excited to have you join us! While our Ctrl Room Series camps are currently geared toward up -and-coming producers rather than beginners, we are working on offering more educational programming - stay tuned! You are always welcome to reach out to info@genderamplified.org to get plugged in.
At the moment, Gender Amplified, Inc. is based in NYC and hold events exclusively in the northeast. However, we hope to have events coming soon to other locations!
The funds we collect from donors go toward our events programming. Many of our panels, workshops and school seminars are free to attendees. However, there are always programming costs associated with curating our events. Your funds help to offset these costs.
Our allies across the gender spectrum are welcome in our movement and are key partners for us in the current male-dominated music industry. Sign up for our newsletter and come to our events!
